My name is Sara Shoouri, and I am a final-year Ph.D. candidate in Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at the University of Michigan, supervised by Prof. Hun-Seok Kim.
My primary research revolves around building unified and efficient deep learning models for machine perception. I specialize in designing architectures that can synergistically perform multiple tasks (multi-task) while processing and fusing diverse data streams, such as real-time video, audio, and other sensor data (multi-modal). The core of my work is to overcome computational bottlenecks, enabling complex, holistic understanding of dynamic environments on resource-constrained hardware.
Prior to Ph.D., I earned an M.S. degree (2019-2021) from the University of Michigan, specializing in Signal & Image Processing and Machine Learning (SIPML). For my undergraduate studies, I completed a B.S. degree (2014-2019) at the Sharif University of Technology, Tehran.
I have also pursued several research internships, including at Meta (2024, ML/CV Research Scientist Intern), AMD (2024, AI/ML Data Center Research Intern), and CSIRO (2018, Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation, Australia).
I'm on the job market for Industry Applied Research positions.
